David Lauterstein
David Lauterstein is co-owner of The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School in Austin (founded 1989). His private practice in Deep Massage and Zero Balancing is at Creekside Whole Health Center, 1209 Parkway in Austin.
David has been a therapist for over 40 years and a teacher since 1982. His primary trainings were in massage therapy with Bob King, Structural Bodywork with Rolfer, Daniel Blake, Cranio-Sacral Therapy with earlier students of John Upledger, and, since 1986, Zero Balancing with its founder, Dr. Fritz Smith, MD. David has received Educator of the Year Awards from AMTA and the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education, and is inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame.
He is the author of five books: “Putting the Soul Back in the Body”, “The Deep Massage Book”, “Life in the Bones”, “The Art of Massage”, and The Memory Palace of Bones”, the latter co-authored with Dr. Jeff Rockwell. He has taught workshops throughout the U.S. for many years as well as in the UK and in Costa Rica.
His private practice at Creekside consists primarily of Zero Balancing and/or Deep Massage: The Lauterstein Method. Both modalities focus on the integration of structure and energy, with the goal of helping the receiver or student relieve pain and tension, and support them, through advanced bodywork, in becoming a healthier and more fulfilled person in mind, body and spirit. His method of “Deep Massage” focuses on the structure and energy of the whole person through the soft tissues. Zero Balancing focuses on the whole person but invites as well the experience of whole health through the bones and joints.
